This has to be satire, but after the New Yorker flap I no longer know what to believe. This sentence caught my eye:As some of you may or may not know some asshat decided to track me down and vandalize my car and hang a dead mutilated rabbit from my front door in a lame attempt to intimidate me from proceeding with releasing any details of my analysis. I kind of stopped reading after that.
Umm.. assuming for a second that it's not a piece of satire... The Quebec government gives out birth certificates through what has to be one of the only efficient bits of their bureaucracy that I've ever dealt with. Every couple of years the forms change slightly. Another issues is if the term "original" means "the one issued at his birth" or "the one issued when he asked for it recently" or "the one that he scanned/photocopied for reproduction on this website (which may or may not have been futzed with by a web designer/developer)". Issued at his birth would be different from current examples. Asked for recently would be different from the versions at birth. Photocopiers (not all of them, but some) put in a .25" safety margin because they can't do full bleed (oooh listen to me, you'd think I had 20 years of graphic production under my belt... oh wait). Depending on the model and how recently it was calibrated.. well this can do odd things with positioning of things like, say, fonts. Scanners, in the hands of a hurried intern, can do the same thing. Graphics in the hands of a developer who is hurried? Guess what? Further, I don't know what the deal is for sure, but I'm going to bet that there isn't an "official laser printer designated to print all birth certificates". Anyway, I really don't understand what they are after here... he has to be one of the most transparent candidates in a long time. It's funny, both Obama and McCain have had their place of birth and citizenship based upon that place of birth challenged, and in both cases the mainstream, the non loonies just moved on like grown ups. The horrible thing is that I'll bet that this BS has traction simply because a) rumors are hard to disprove b) the Republicans are better at this kind of shit than the Democrats c).. what was C? OH YES! Obama is not white.
No, it's not satire. Actually, I've been kind of following this for the past several weeks or so as the "story" unfolded. EXCLUSIVELY at Atlas Shrugged, it seems. Bottom line: Who cares?
Hmm... The guy who makes the claim is so clever he must be silenced. Oh wait, not clever, mind-numbingly stupid. He used a scanned image that was uploaded to the DailyKos site and turned into a jpeg to say "oh it's fake," look at all those jpeg artifacts.
Wow! I haven't seen such a smoothly built paranoid delusion since the last time I was locked up is Psych. That person was convinced bunny rabbits from Uranus controlled the world.
